2 x Antique Part Leather Non-Fiction French Classics inc: Livre de mes fils (Paul Doumer 1906) & L'Education Sentimentale (Gustave Flaubert 1907). Livre de mes fils published by Vuibert et Nony and L'Education Sentimentale published by Bibliothèque-Charpentier. Both have excellent leather spines with marbled boards and endpapers. Both have very light corner scuffing and each is very tight with clean pages starting to age.

Both have very light corner scuffing and each is very tight with clean pages starting to age.Provenance: This lot was amongst a collection from the house of a wealthy French family who lived in the 16th arrondissment of Paris, known for ornate buildings and wide boulevards and a favourite of Parisian high society. The gentleman who purchased them was born in 1877 and spent the war years in the same house, having sent his wife children to stay in the Pyrenees to avoid the Nazi occupation of Paris. He was unable to get out in time but was fortunate enough to be able to sit out the occupation, keeping these and all other books in the collection safe from the Nazis.
