2 Unrestored Leather Volumes 1744 & 1747 John Rogers Sermons.
Both volumes are presented in the original, unrestored state and perfect for sympathetic re-binding. The volumes are: Twelve Sermons preached upon several occasions by John Rogers D. D. Late vicar of St Giles Cripplegate, Sub Dean and Canon of Wells, and Chaplain in Ordinary to His Majesty. The Third Edition published in London by W Innys. 1744. Full leather with considerable marks, scuffs and small shallow scalping. Small loss to top of spine. Original gilt lettering to solid spine is fading. Inside front board has a simple pasted paper finish. FEP is missing and front board (though attached) is pulling from the page block. Rear paste down paper to rear board interior missing as are the two endpapers. Pages are solid, slightly rippled and with general light discolouration but otherwise, not vastly aged. Seventeen Sermons preached upon several occasions by John Rogers D. D. Late vicar of St Giles Cripplegate, Sub Dean and Canon of Wells, and Chaplain in Ordinary to His Majesty. To which are added Two Tracts... Being the third and last volume of the Author's posthumous works. The Third Edition published in London by W Innys. 1747. Full leather with considerable marks, scuffs and small shallow scalping. Finger pull wear to top of spine. Original gilt lettering to solid spine is fading. Inside front board has a simple pasted paper finish that is half missing and detached from the inner board surface. FEP and title page creased. Front board (though attached) is pulling from the page block. Rear paste down paper to rear board interior mostly missing. Pages are solid, slightly rippled and with general light discolouration but otherwise, not vastly aged. Clearly valuable books in a better condition, the estimate has taken the level of dilapidation into account.
