Published by?_Oliver & Boyd, Edinburgh,?_1829. Boards. Condition: Acceptable. No Jacket. First Edition. Title completed: "in 1723, with an Appendix, Comprising A Description of the Island of Juan Fernandez, and Some Curious Information Relating to His Shipmates, &c." This is the extremely scarce first general release edition. Boards are of thick card with edge scuffs and bumps, corners also. Spine has a paste down paper label down its length with a smaller title label as well. Cracking of label down both seams and finger damage to both ends. Book is holding together but feels loose and webbing exposed along seams where cracked within. Name inscription to FEP and previous owner's summary script to end papers. Rough cut page edges. Pages clean and starting to discolour with light ageing. Howell's story of Selkirk is the basis for DeFoe's classic Robinson Crusoe. An absolute must for any Robinson Crusoe collector.
