Date unknown due to complete loss of text pages with only the colour plates remaining, however there is an inscription dated to 1848 on one of the remaining endpapers. The book is in a total collapsed state and is being offered for the value of the plates within only. Plates are printed in colour and enhanced by hand. There are 86 numbered plates with number 48 occurring twice with a different bird on each, acknowledged by 'bis' on the second.The latter few plates denote hummingbird nests. Each plate is 14 x 23cm and each is starting to age around the edges. Tissue guards are present to some. The birds as displayed are all in a bright colourful state and present a wonderful opportunity for framing and display.
