The Holy Bible - Huge leather bound tome date 1722. Printed by James Watson. "The Holy Bible containing the Old and New Testaments newly translated out of the original Tongues and with the firmer translations diligently compared and revised by His Majesty's Special Command Appointed to be read in Churches. Printed by James Watson, Printer to the King's most excellent majesty . MDCCXXII" Full leather boards with gilt rim decoration and to complete spine. Five raised bands . Boards are scuffed to edges and corners, which are also bumped. Further scrapes and scuffs evident to faces of boards and down spine. Top of spine pulled due to finger retrieval. Boards feel tight but the front board is pulling after the endpaper , showing a cracked crease. The book and all pages tight also. Marbled endpapers. Family details inked on first blank page. Historic water ingress has occurred leaving a tide mark to the bottom left hand corner and affecting the first few pages from the title page. The other pages are surprisingly very clean with little or no ageing. Fully trimmed with gilt edges.12" x 15" and very heavy.
