Early edition with the Saintsbury contributions, 6 volumes: Includes "The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman" (first three volumes), "A Sentimental Journey through France and England" (volume four), and "The Letters and Sermons and Miscellaneous Writings" (the final two volumes). Sterne (1713-1768), Irish novelist and Anglican clergyman, is best known for his celebrated comic novel "Tristram Shandy."_All volumes have green leather spines and corners. All are scuffed to some degree and the leather has darkened to all on the spine. Red panel with "Sterne's Works' discolouring and one is missing entirely. All spine are rubbed at the base and ragged with damage to the top.Volume one has front board cracked but holding with the endpapers. Volume three front board detached completely. Marbled boards, endpapers and page edges. Pages generally clean and tight.
